On a bit of a werewolf bender just now and looking for some book suggestions. I have a big preference for magical realism, where the werewolf is trying to manage their condition while leading a fairly ordinary life. Huge bonus points if they're queer.
Read recently:
– Bored Gay Werewolf by Tony Santorella
– A Wolf Steps in Blood by Tamara Jeree
– Lycanthropy and other Chronic Illnesses by Kristen O'Neal
– Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison.
Also a shout out to the film My Animal (2023) which I found a really touching portrait of queer loneliness and being queer in a small town.
Thanks in advance!

TJ Klune’s Green Creek series; Wolfsong, Ravensong, Heartsong and Brothersong
All m/m and someone background f/f and f/m (all couples are a combination of gay or bi, with one that’s aro and one ace character)
Most are werewolves but one of the side characters (who’s a main one in Ravensong) is a (male) witch and some side characters are witches too
This might not fit exactly but check out The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter. Beautifully written, a classic in the genre. She retold a bunch of fairytales from a female perspective, and one (if not two) of the stories in the collection are about werewolves. It might not be overtly queer, but there’s definitely a queer read on it if you look for it.
Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series. It’s best if you read the series in order and it does open with werewolves as the main players in the first book. From there, you meet a whole cast of supernaturals in other books, but the werewolves are always present. It’s an addictive series.
