I like to read in bed before I go to sleep, and for fun outside of this time. I need a book to read before bedtime; some of my favorite books are The Secret History, A Little Life, White Fang, The Life of Pi. I just finished The Indifferent Stars Above, which was a bit dark for bedtime reading, but I that’s how I read it anyway. I don’t mind books with dark themes, but I suppose a real account of starvation, desperation, and cannibalism is where I draw the line. I also really enjoy outdoor adventure books, especially about mountaineering — The Mountain of My Fear and Deborah come to mind. Lately when I pick up fiction bestsellers I am not really drawn into the story and find the themes shallow and the characters tacky — just finished Beautiful Ugly and found it thoroughly annoying. Hope you guys have some reccs for me!
