I came across this book as a recommendation from someone on social media, as I like to do with a lot of the books I read. I equally love and hate this man for the recommendation.
It’s far and few between I have the privilege of reading a book as good as lonesome dove. This is my first western, generally sticking to sci fi or fantasy, that being said I have also enjoyed novels like the count of Monte Cristo and east of eden, for whom the bell tolls etc.
but when I tell you I WEPT like a child over this book, a fully grown man so taken in with the characters and the stories, I find it hard to recount another book I have felt this way over.
I feel empty now that it’s over and I feel jealous of anyone that might read this post and decide on reading or listening to this book for the first time. Do yourself a favour.
With all that being said, I have made this post to try and help feel the hole that has now been created and to fill it with something I hope can compare.
What do you consider a legendary status book? One that stands out above the others? A book that you fall in love with the characters or the story or the writing. Any genre, what is your absolute favourite that you recommend to anyone that is listening? Because lonesome dove has now joined that list for me.
