Hi, looking for maybe some books on Chinese history that are non fiction but you still think are fun and interesting reads. I know it’s a wide net but I’m realizing that it was never really included in any of my curriculum and though I read a lot a lot non fiction, I’ve haven’t read much Asian history in general. Can be as specific (time/subject/location-wise) or broad as you want just let me know what you’ve found interesting!

The Retreat of the Elephants: an Environmental History of China – my favourite, it includes poetry, assessments of quality of life in different places at different times, as well as a wealth of other detail.
