Just finished this book and cried like a baby at the end. The first book in a long time I struggled to put down, felt so drawn into the prose, the conversations were so real and I felt like I was right there sitting next to Cyril.

Love the idea of following a character from childhood all the way to his old age, reflecting on the people who made him who he is and everything as a result of all the pain he experienced.

    Can anyone suggest something similar?
