Been on a bit of a noir kick lately, but I'm very much in the mood for a detective novel where the emphasis is placed on a large character arc for the detective as a character, especially as a result of the events of the mystery itself. Not big on long series, so I'd prefer either standalones or maybe a 2-4 book series. Seven and the Batman movie from 2022 are both good examples of what I'm looking for. Also the Marlowe books, to a degree.
