There are some recent interesting retold stories like James to Huckleberry Finns or Julia to 1984. I am fascinated by the stories unfold in a different POV.

I also wonder if there are authors that pay tribute to one another to include characters from the other author’s books, e.g. a detective from author A to appear in Author B ‘s book as some sort of a guest. Or somehow referenced /related but also impacted the story.

Thanks for any recommendations in advance.

*Jane Eyre* and *Wide Sargasso Sea* (the latter follows the earlier life of a character from the former).

Stephen King does this a lot in his books. Characters from different stories show up in other books, especially if they take place in Maine. The Dark Tower series connects with a bunch of his other books too. Castle Rock is like a shared universe for many of his stories.

Also check out Neil Gaiman’s books, especially American Gods and Anansi Boys. They’re separate stories but share some characters and take place in the same world.

The Zombie Fallout series by Mark Tufo has a crossover meeting with the MC in the NightLord series by Garon Whited. Each of the authors tells the story from their MC’s perspective. It’s not a huge thing, but it made me smile when I found it.

    4. The later Inspector Troy books by John Lawton have a character borrowed from Margery Allingham’s Campion’s mysteries.

*Pride and Prejudice* and *Longbourne* (told from the perspective of one of the servants); also, the Independence of Miss Mary Bennett by Colleen McCullough (from the perspective of the bookish sister)
