Any suggestions for books that will have you pulling out a piece of paper to take notes or solve in-text puzzles (such as acrostics and anagrams)? I'm reading The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett right now, which is a mystery revolving around a fictional book full of hidden codes and secrets: acrostics, anagrams, etc. It has me itching to solve things.
I'm wondering if House of Leaves Mark Z. Danielewski and S. by J.J. Abrams falls into this category – haven't yet read either, but they seem very interactive.
I'm sure mystery would lend itself best to such a book, but I'm down for any fiction genre.

**S** by JJ Abrams
**Cain’s Jawbone** by Torquemada
**Twelve Quizzes of Christmas** by Frank Paul
**House of Leaves** by Mark Danielewski
**The Raw Shark Texts** by Stephen Hall
**The GCHQ Puzzle Book 1 and 2**
Also there’s a game series called **Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective**. You find it under like board games but it’s really a pretty challenging, adult choose-your-own-adventure book with maps and clues. Each kit comes with ten different mysteries – I did them all during COVID lockdown alone and really enjoyed.
