I need some gender diversity in my authors. I quite like reading short stories, and have absolutely enjoyed Jhumpa Lahiri and Alice Munro to name a couple. There are some more I have read and liked, and many more I have scouted.
Please suggest some stellar male short story writers. The newer the better. So no Hemingway, etc.

Trevor Dodge and George Saunders! George is 🔥🔥🔥
George Saunders
Ted Chiang’s *Stories of Your Life*.
For something a bit older (but much younger than Hemingway) that I hold in very high regard, *Welcome to the Monkey House* by Kurt Vonnegut is fantastic, but from 1968.
William Kent Krueger has a few novellas that I have enjoyed. I have mainly read his Cork O’Connor series (which are not novellas) and so had decided to try some of his short stories.
Raymond Carver’s What We Talk About When We Talk About Love
Will Self writes some wild short stories
They’re definitely nsfw though
Brandon Taylor – try his collection Filthy Animals.
Italo Calvino’s The Complete Cosimiconomics.
Ken Liu’s *Paper Menagerie*
