It’s a great, fantastic book (very much in the same vein as something like Jane Eyre), but personally, I like DuMaurier’s other novels and short stories much more. They’re very grim and she has a dark sense of humor, I especially recommend her short stories, like “Don’t Look Now.”

I have a friend who loves it, says it’s her favorite book. Which is why I haven’t read it yet. I don’t want to read it and hate it.
