I am looking for books that are very obviously fantasy but take themselves extremely seriously. I want it to feel like the book was written by a researcher or mage within the book world itself and then it was just taken out of it and placed in ours.
I am specifically looking for stuff like spellbooks, demonologies, necronomicons, etc. Things of an encyclopedia nature preferably with illustrations so I can open to a random page and say 'Ah yes! And this is how to summon Lucifer himself with all the ingredients and instructions and even a nifty illustration so i dont mess up the summoning circle!'. The Ology book series is a great example as to what I am looking for actually. They have a lot of good illustrations, "samples" and letters from "the writer" and so on. It really emerges you into the world it's pretending it's a part of.
This whole search started cuz I got interested in stuff like the Malleus Maleficarum and the king James I demonology but those are just walls of text which lose my interest fairly quickly. So yeah thank you greatly in advance.
