I (32m) want to get back into reading. I’ve really enjoyed books such as Jurassic Park, The Hot Zone, Congo, etc. I’ve read most of Michael Crichton stuff.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Last ditch attempt to save dying sun.
Enders Game by Orson Scott Card – Children are trained as solders in a war with another species.

If you liked Crichton, you could try Stephen Baxter

I’m enjoying Lost Regiment Series by William R. Forstchen.
An American Civil War Union Army regiment is transported through space to an alien planet. They face challenges of survival against enormous odds. They introduce unheard-of ideas of freedom, equality, and democracy.
The author is a Professor of History. He specializes in Military History, the American Civil War, and the History of Technology. His vast knowledge of these subjects makes his descriptions authentic and allows the reader to become immersed it the story.
The series consists of nine books. I’ve just finished the first book. I found it to be fast paced, unpredictable and entertaining. I could see it being made into a streaming series.
The first book was published in 1990 and I did read it back then, along with the 2nd book. Happily I only vaguely remember parts of them, so I have some good reading lined up.
Hope this helps.

1632 by Eric Flint.
The year is 2000, and a small West Virginia town of 3,000 people just disappears. It has been transported back in time to a Europe which is in the middle of the the Thirty Years’ War.

*Recursion* by Blake Crouch is a popular book here because it’s a trippy time/dimension hopping adventure. Only thing I’ve read that’s quite like it is another one of this author’s books *Dark Matter.*
*The Gone World* by Tom Sweterlitsch – A time traveling government worker finds the end of the world, and goes back in time to try and figure out how to stop it.
