Trying to get my husband into reading. We like very differnt things. I like historical fiction and non fiction ( Tudor, American Westward expansion, books with a good plot twist or biography).
His favorite shows are Gold Rush, Cops and deadliest catch also enjoys Tulsa King and Landman. He does not want historical fiction, or sci fi and wants short reads. Adult content fine. Help me help him….

    1. honestly why not compilations of books about the sort of content he’s interested in? coffee table books. A book about ships and their use in the fishing industry maybe.

    2. If he is willing to try a horror, one of hands down the best works I’ve read(out of novels, biographies, shorts, everything) is called We Need To Do Something by Max Booth III. It’s right under 200 pages total.
(The movie sucks. Don’t watch it even if he loves the story, it’s just bad acting, editing, effects.)

I recommend this the other day for a person looking to get into reading: The Sisters Brothers. It’s longer than what you’re looking for, but the chapters are pretty short, making you want to find out what’s going to happen next. My husband reads maybe a book a year & I got it for him from the library and he absolutely loved it.

Night Flight by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (same author as the Little Prince which is also amazing).

Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. (Anything by Roald Dahl is pretty great-he wrote over 60 short stories and there are some good collections out there)

You said no sci-fi, but Murderbot Diaries is a true masterpiece imo. Each book is 4 hours on audio so I think it’s close to your target length.

Ok not 50-100 pages but as a big fan of Deadliest Catch:

Heart of the Sea is a book about a whaling ship’s shipwreck and the mutiny afterward

Endurance is the story of Ernest Shackleton and Antartica.

Both stories are crazy enough to read like fiction but are 100% true and both books are well written enough to be engaging and read in little spurts.
