I've just read Fight Club for the first time and it has reminded me of some other books about being lost in a system that doesn't work for you and is unfulfilling in some way, joining Stoner, American Psycho, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest, and I'm sure many others. I am looking for books on this theme, anger at the system but – preferably specifically – from a generation's point of view.

A Scanner Darkly – Philip K Dick
Catcher in the Rye would be perfect for this. its literally about a kid who hates everything about society and thinks everyone is fake. also check out Less Than Zero – bunch of rich LA kids in the 80s who are completely disconnected from reality. both books really nail that feeling of being young and hating the world around you
