I am a teacher of majority 8th graders and we have our academic awards coming up. I have chosen 2 students to give the awards for my class and need help selecting a book for each of them. For context, they are both students in my 8th grade math class. I am uncertain of what type of books to give them as favorite book genre really isnt a topic that comes up in class. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

On the safe side, check out Charlotte’s Web. I don’t think they’ll appreciate being gifted something obviously for children, and this is a readable and timeless classic. It was my first book, and I still love it; truly for all ages!
I’d suggest Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. They’re great for middle schoolers.
If you want a book that’s not series, I’d suggest you Out of my Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
For an amazing math/STEM book that’s still very accessible to 8th graders, I would recommend *Journey Through Genius*. *Ender’s Game* is another good choice for Science Fiction for that age group.
**Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World** by Matt Parker. An entertaining look at real-world math-related oopsies.
