Suggest me five books that will make you cool?

When I was 12 years old I remember walking into the library and asking a very nice lady to recommend five books that would make me cool and Naked Lunch by William S Burroughs, Advertisements For Myself by Norman Mailer, the Thief's Journal by Jean Genet, the Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles and On the Road by Jack Kerouac were the books she give me now that I'm an old fart, I'm wondering what books would be recommended now if I were to ask that question?
