I recently read Piranesi and absolutely loved it. I see a lot of people recommending books to people that liked Piranesi based on the setting, but what I found most engaging about it was the structure of the story. We get clues of what happened in the past and we get to piece together what happened. Another thing I liked was that Piranesi was kind of like a scientist, collecting information about his surroundings.
Does anyone have any recommendations of books that have those things in them?
Thanks!

Trust by Hernan Diaz; I haven’t finished it yet but it tells the same story from different perspectives and agendas without you knowing what the real truth is
Anything by Stuart Turton.
The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir, starting with Gideon the Ninth. Lots of mysteries and info given out in small pieces.
I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. This doesn’t wrap things up the way Piranesi does, but it’s very beautifully written. The main character also collections information as well as she is able.
A Short Stay in Hell by Steven Peck. The setting reminds me a bit of Piranesi, but the overall message is quite different.
