I don't want anything heavy or revolving around them or their friends being sick/dying.
Something that is more something of the following: adventurous/cozy/charming/silly/fantastical.
I don't want to cry or be philosophical, I just want to be entertained.
Thanks!

Have you read Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand? I loved it.
The Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto
I haven’t read it yet, but I think The Remarkable Retirement of Edna Fisher by E.M. Anderson would fit the bill.
I second Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murders. It’s such a fun read.
The Grass Harp by Truman Capote. It’s basically a story of a group of misfits set in the American South running away and living in a treehouse.
*The Unexpected Mrs Pollifax* and its sequels.
Dorothy Gilman’s Mrs Pollifax novels. She’s a fluffy white-haired CIA spy and grandmother solving international crimes in colorful locations.
Any Miss Marple book by A. Christie.
Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut
