Hey guys, it might sound weird, but I'm looking for VERY controversial novels to read. Ones that are seen as disgusting by the majority.
I want them to be realistic and convincing. I want to understand the characters in it +++
Idk if that's the right sub to ask, if not, please redirect me 🙂

Lolita by Nabokov
Tampa by Alissa Nutting (unapologetic female pedophile)
A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G Summers (unapologetic female cannibal)
The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum (unapologetic child abuser based on true story).
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (slightly apologetic pedophile)
A Little Life and The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanigihara (constant human misery)
I think it’s called Cows. Forgot the author, sorry.
Tender is the Flesh
Father of lies by Brian Evenson- It’s about a priest who’s a serial child predator.
Rabbit Hunt by Wrath James White- A gang of psychos go on a rampage, it’s a splatterpunk novel so not very well written in an artistic sense but sometimes funny.
Not sure if it qualifies as “VERY controversial” or “seen as disgusting by the majority”, but I’ve seen quite some people say that “Manhunt” by Gretchen Felker-Martin was too grotesque/uncomfortable for them (I think there was/is also some review bombing going on). I adored it though. 🙂
There’s a few great suggestions below but I would add a few more that I found particularly revolting:
* **American Psycho** – Bret Easton Ellis – If you’re into glorifying sadism with graphic depictions of extreme violence and cannibalism.
* **Crash** – J.G. Ballard – People develop sexual fetishes for car crashes, injuries, and death. Necrophilia undertones.
* **Blood Meridian** – Cormac McCarthy – While it’s not as shocking as the ones above, theme-wise, it’s an immensely well written and violent book that will make you feel nauseated at times. It’s a Wild West story. Expect lots of scalping.
Hope this helps!
These are my favorite kind of books!
Hurricane Season or Paradais by Fernanda Melchor
Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfeg
My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tennant
My Dark Vanessa by Elizabeth Russell
Naked Lunch – William Burroughs.
Not Forever, But For Now by Chuck Palahniuk
