Interested in anything really just no extreme violence or gore. Every book that has been recommend to me recently reads like it was written by a 6th grader. I need a good book, bonus points if there is a good audio book version.

Name a few books that you think are high quality—I.e., “good”. It’s easier to recommend if we know what you like.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
Here are some I think are very well written:
* Void Star by Zachary Mason
* I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman
* The Continuous Katherine Mortenhoe by D. G. Compton
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

If you like fantasy, The Curse of Chalion by Lois Macmaster Bujold.

Steinbeck Grapes of Wrath
Proust Swann’s Way

Two non-fiction books that I’ve read, and loved, recently are The Northwomen by Heather Pringle and Jane Austen’s Bookshelf by Rebecca Romney (audio was good for this one). A recent fiction book I enjoyed was The Skeleton Key by Erin Kelly and am 1/4 of the way through The Dry by Jane Harper and like it so far.
A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.
