It’s non fiction but “The Indifferent Stars Above” about the Donner party saga is basically the opening mission in Red Dead 2 except true and WAY MORE HARROWING.

Lonesome Dove is truly incredible, it won the Pulitzer and a masterpiece in the western genre. It’s not super fast paced or action focussed but strong story, characters and a true adventure.
