Best true crime books

Trying to surprise my dad with new books. His favorite author of all time is John Grisham (he’s read all his books and goes through them fast). He doesn’t like fiction or sci-fi novels (according to him), and for some reason doesn’t enjoy James Patterson’s work. That’s all I really know of his reading tastes.
