Title. My husband and I recently decided to listen to an audiobook separately and discuss together. I love twisty sci-fi/fantasy/thriller novels and he predominantly reads nonfiction about politics and the economy. I’d love to meet in the middle with a unique novel that neither of us have read before. 1984 and Three Body Problem come to mind as comps. TIA!! <3

A Memory Called Empire!! A sci fi political intrigue book about colonialism.
My tastes are like yours, and my partner’s are like your husband’s. We both enjoyed *James* by Percival Everett. The audiobook was very well done, and it gives you plenty to discuss. Especially if you’re already familiar with Huckleberry Finn (or want to read/reread that too).
