So, I used to be a big reader, but lately not so much. I typically read literary fiction (eg Elena Ferrante) and while I really love that genre I think I need something new and more fun to break my dry spell.
I was thinking back to how much I enjoyed fantasy books as a preteen and would love to find something that has me refusing to put my book down the way I did in those days.
I ideally want something that has good world building but isn’t overwhelmingly full of unfamiliar terminology etc since I’m not typically a fantasy reader. Well written female characters are a must; queer characters would be great but not a necessity. I’d also prefer it be adult fantasy but young adult recommendations are welcome if you think they’d appeal to an older audience.
