I'm in a deep state of grief at the moment and keep being recommended things I can relate to, real life experiences of bereavement, comforting and touching tender tales of compassion over cups of tea and inspiring tales of creativity in the face of tragedy etc. and I don't want it. It makes me feel worse.

I just want some well written light hearted escapism that preferably makes me laugh.

Can anyone recommend anything that might suit?

I took a children’s lit class in college. Read “The Day My Butt Went Psycho.”

It’s absolutely gross out humor for kids. BUT I was laughing my ass off the whole time.

    2. To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis which is a time travelling neo-Victorian book. It’s about historians and star crossed lovers and the weird rituals of the Victorian upper class. I laughed a lot.
