Books where they describe the food really beautifully (rest of the story can be about anything)
I want to read a book that makes me hungry!! I have read some books with really wonderful descriptions of the food interspersed in the story and would love to be recommended more. I hope you know what I mean!
The Harry Potter series has to be unmatched with this. The food descriptions were so vivid! I grew up reading Harry Potter and would absolutely fantasize about those Great Hall feasts and the snack cart on the Hogwarts Express. I remember being a tween and going to Harry Potter World and being so freaking excited to try butter beer…
EDIT: To be clear, since this is getting downvoted, I know it’s controversial bc JKR sucks. Can’t change that I read it before that all came out out, and it does have great food descriptions. 🤷♀️

The Kamogawa Food Detectives! Lots of food descriptions and many dishes use very local ingredients unique to specific regions in Japan.

My Year Abroad. The amount of food descriptions in that book is something else.

A CERTAIN HUNGER!!!!!!! I promise. It’s a pretty gory book about a serial killer but I’m so serious the description of food is incredible

The Noodle Shop Mysteries by Vivien Chein. Not beautiful descriptions but you will be itching for Chinese food while reading.

High on the Hog- it’s non-fiction and it’s a super interesting combo of history, food writing, and overall storytelling (and recipes!).
