I just read the incredible article ("The Last Contract" by Alexander Sorondo) about Vollmann's upcoming totemic novel about the CIA, A Table for Fortune. This was posted in the Thomas Pynchon subreddit. Pynchon's my favorite author and Vollmann seems like a kindred author.

Vollmann's bibliography is as prolific as it is long. (And his books are long too.) So I humbly turn to SuggestMeABook to see if any Vollmann fans are lurking and would like to suggest me some of his works.

What's your favorite? What's a good entry point to his works? What's his masterpiece?

Thanks to anyone and everyone who has a recommendation. Otherwise I'll just mosey to the bookstore and grab something blind.

Riding Toward Everywhere was my first and still favorite Vollman book. Poor People was really good, too.
