I just finished Eclipse and am starting to read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. I LOVE the love triangle aspect of Edward, Bella, & Jacob and I like that there’s a slow burn to any touching/makeout scenes in the books but I wish they were a little more detailed/spicy once they finally get to those parts.

I’m looking for recommendations on books that have the same vibe. They don’t have to include a love triangle but I do want it to include the supernatural element (vampire, werewolf, etc with either a human or a different supernatural breed, assassin, anything of that nature). I can say I’m not a huge fan of the books that have like fairies and kings and queens and all that, one of the big things I like with twilight is it’s just “normal” people lol. Anything come to mind?

This one is easy. Do A Court of Thorn and Roses series. I have a middle schooler who mentioned all her friends were reading it, and so I checked it out and said “ohhhh. well that is straight pornographic! kids these days!” And then I clutched my pearls. So you get fairies over vampires, but plenty of love triangles and stuff you are looking for.

Edit to add that I note you don’t like fairies. But still. This is the closest to Twilight I’ve seen. Otherwise you can do like 50 Shades of Gray, but there are no fantasy elements at all.

Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. College age. 13 books. MC is a student attacked by rogue vampire and saved by the master of a vampire house, who turns her.

Isle of Night by Veronica Wolff. 5 books. MC is a human going nowhere in life and meets mysterious Ronan, who invites her to train and compete to become a Watcher.

I hesitate to say Crave by Tracy Wolff. It has plagiarism allegations against it but it is probably the most like Twilight. 6 books. Orphaned girl sent to live with her uncle at the boarding school he runs in Alaska where everyone is some sort of paranormal creature.

If you like Twilight but want something spicier, try The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith, A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest, or The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. These books have love triangles, supernatural elements like vampires and werewolves, and some steamier moments.
