I'm a 24-year-old man who is in need of starting to read and gain inspiration again, albeit I do have a short attention span, a horrible memory in which it will inevitably lead me to go watch multiple youtube videos on breakdowns and reviews of the books I choose to read so I wont forget them days after I'm done with them.
So with that being said, all I ask for are these genres to not be included in your recommendations:
- Full on Romance and Horror (I can't really understand/comprehend them unless I'm visually seeing it happen)
- non-fiction (and anything related to it)
- modern fiction (stories set in the modern day)
What I would like to read (more preferably a story with multiple books and consistent main character(s) )
- Fantasy (both high and grounded are welcomed)
- Sci-fi (set in the future)
- Fantasy Thriller (if that's a thing)
- Action adventure
and as you can tell, I have a simple mind that lacks the understanding of complex ideas, emotions, and or themes. I am also very picky for unrelated reasons but if your recommendations have a little bit of romance/horror or even a bit of smut/sexual or darker themes, then that's fine as long as it's not a overall part of the story.
Thank you in advance for the recommendations! 👍

Congrats on joining the book community 🙂
There’s some authors that are pretty established in the fantasy realm, like Joe Abercrombie, John Gwynne and Brandon Sanderson.
Science fiction authors are Everina Maxwell, James SA Corey and Becky Chambers.
Young adult fiction might also be an option if you’re looking for straightforward stories, like Leigh Bardugo.
Don’t forget you can check out anthologies and novellas or short fiction to explore lots of authors and ideas without needing to commit to a series.
Good luck!
