So I recently finished Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie after not reading for years and I thought it was gonna be good because when I started i saw so many good reviews and the people that read it seem to LOVE it, but I was so disappointed. It was so MID. No worldbuilding, confusing lore, no context, just straight MID. Yea it had its moments but man this shi was boring. I know it’s the first of a trilogy but I just had no feeling when reading it
But anyways I’m looking for something actually good, something with the quality of the Percy Jackson and HOO series or Scythe. I read all the time when I was in high school because there were GOOD books like those but now I’m 20 and most of what I see at B&N are aimed at females. Don’t get me wrong I like spice but I’d rather read in a male perspective
Thank you!

What kinds of things do you usually enjoy? You could try
– The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
– 11/22/63, Misery, The Green Mile, Needful Things, The Stand or anything else mentioned in this sub by Stephen King
– Childhood’s End by Arthur C Clarke
– The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith
– The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break by Steven Sherrill
– Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
– Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett
I really disliked the Red Rising series and most things I’ve read by Brandon Sanderson but they’ll be recommended most I’d say.
You can also just type your favourite genre into the search bar and get thousands of recs.
