Hi. I’m a lurker in this sub, but after the book I just finished, I decided to post.

I just finished the audiobook Under the Dome by Stephen King. My husband recommended it, so I gave it a shot. It was a good book, but it was a lot.

I need something light-hearted to help me cleanse my pallet. I enjoy Taylor Jenkins Reid, Kristin Hannah, Colleen Hoover as some examples. I just recently listened to The Cookbook Club, which I really enjoyed.

I also enjoy Lisa Jewell and Simone St. James.

Since I listen to audiobooks, I’m very drawn to Andie Arndt and Julia Whelan as narrators.

If I didn’t give enough info about what I gravitate towards, feel free to ask questions.

    Thanks for your help!

Edit: I also love the Fourth Wing series.

After something heavy or disappointing, one of the best palate cleansers I’ve found is *Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine* by Gail Honeyman. It’s got just enough emotional depth to keep it grounded, but it’s also quirky, hopeful, and full of charm. Eleanor’s inner dialogue is hilarious in a very dry, British way, and watching her slowly come out of her shell makes for a super satisfying read. It’s the kind of story that makes you laugh, reflect, and close the book feeling just a little better about the world.

If you’re leaning more toward lighthearted fiction with solid writing, *The Rosie Project* by Graeme Simsion is another great pick. It’s witty, fast-paced, and centers around a socially awkward professor who creates a scientific questionnaire to find a wife—and of course, things go sideways. It’s clever without being overcomplicated and genuinely fun to read. Both books are great resets if you’ve just finished something emotionally draining or overly dark and need a reminder that books can be uplifting without being shallow.

Julia Whelan narrates most(all?) of Emily Henry’s books. Funny Story is one of my favorites and it’s definitely narrated by Julia Whelan.

I have also just searched her name or other narrators that I like instead of books or the author. I’ve found some great reads that way.

After a long or hard listen, I enjoy listening to an autobiography/biography. I’ve leaned towards the autos read by the actual person. A few comedians have done books, and it’s just hilarious and eye opening what they go through to get where they’re at in their lives. Some actors/actresses have released some fairly good ones as well.

If you’re not into that, an easy listen I just finished recently was First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston. It was only about 9 1/2 hours and pretty good.

I am listening to Under the Dome right now! A fun audiobook that I absolutely love is Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson. The narration by Marin Ireland is flawless.
