As per the title, I just finished Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperhead and Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch… and loved them both. These have been my first fiction reads in years, as I usually read historical non-fiction, critical theory, sociology, urban studies, and have just started reading more philosophy.
I recently also read Evicted by Matthew Desmond and The Life and Death of Great American cities and loved those as well. I'm open to both fiction and non-fiction. Any suggestions?

Demon Copperhead reminded me of She’s Come Undone. I enjoyed both.
If you’re open to reading more of the same author I would recommend some of Barbara Kingsolver’s older work. I particularly enjoyed *The Poisonwood Bible* and *Flight Behavior*. They have the same rich characterization and quality prose as *Demon Copperhead*, while also expertly tackling a sociopolitical issue(s). (Poisonwood Bible: colonization, racism; Flight Behavior: climate change)
