I recently became interested in the literary works of Stefan Heym and would like to know were to start. My interest arises mainly from Heym's unique perspective of having escaped the holocaust, then being a member of the US Army, and then spending the rest of his life as a GDR citizen and a critical intellectual that spent much effort on understanding stalinism and its aftermath. But I also expect his books to be somewhat exciting and written in a stimulating way.
I read both English and German and would consider books in either language/decide in favor of the language the book was first published in.
