I started reading again but i'm mostly doing it out of my home which is why i'm looking for smaller books, ideally i just want to be able to put one in my bag and be able to take it out when im on the metro or during breaks at Uni.
I restarted with a heavy focus on horror because i wanted to read The king in yellow but it's really not mandatory, i don't like most horrors especially if too gory or edgy but what i like in them is the fact that usually they have some really strong and unique ideas the story is based on.
the books i really liked lately are: The yellow king, The great god Pan, We have always lived in the castle and No longer human. i have a good knowledge of lovecraft's myths and i really like the aesthetic
The books i have already eyed are: The stranger and At the mountains of madness. Again one is horror but it's just because I found them on the same YT channel where i found The king in yellow and IF i was to read again at home (which right now i just don't do) i would buy the brothers karamazov.
Back in the days i read and LOVED crime and punishment and Moby dick, i'd say that my favorite genres are horror as in spooky/slightly unsettling (not necessarily openly disturbing) and i guess i also really like some investigative tones but not full Sherlock Holmes, this is super niche but while i was thinking about previus reads i also loved the picture of Dorian Gray, which I really think shows what i like, not necessary a terrifying story but slightly unsettling with a ONE strong idea the whole story revolves around.
I dont like futuristic/distopic stuff, political books, excessively gory or edgy stuff and I guess I have to specify it but satanic stories (actually satanic not as in, there was a bad phantom in it).
Outside of that i'm really open for anythign so even if you don't think i would necessarily like something feel free to still suggest it, worst case scenario i search it and realize i don't care but will still look it up.
