Mine is the mushoku tensei light novels—my number 1 piece of fiction ever and it is absolute peak
Crime and punishment is a fantastic book, but I’m not sure it will bring you to another world.
What about the remains of the day or never let me go from kazuo ichiguro?
Probably one of Wodehouse’s novels where Lord Emsworth’s pig is stolen.
The Hobbit is, imho, one of the very best works of fiction ever created. It is highly imaginative, easy to read (I like to read it aloud and do the voices) and it is funny and thrilling!
Shōgun by James Clavell
*Roadside Picnic* – Boris and Arkady Strugatsky
Harry Potter?
For a historical fiction I recently read Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and it was absolutely incredible. It follows a generation of Koreans in Japan from the early 20th century to the 1980’s. It definitely broadened my horizons as it deals with Korean discrimination in Japan throughout the years, something I wasn’t incredibly privy to.
A Sci Fi book I read recently that was also incredible is Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Deals with a tiered interplanetary society separated into colours, gold being the highest and red being the lowest
Cloud Atlas, by David Mitchell
