Okay so
I want to get back into reading books. As a teen and a child I would go through books so fast, but now I haven’t finished a book in years. I have recently been into audiobooks, and have managed to finish quite a few, but considering I’m so out of practice my interests are very limited. I have ADHD so it’s hard to find something captivating.
Now I don’t know exactly what I want. What I know is which audiobooks I’ve enjoyed recently. Those include Dial A For Aunties, Perks of Being a Wallflower and I’m Glad My Mother Died and Anxious People. Books that I’ve enjoyed reading but haven’t finished due to my bad attention span has been a bunch of Grady Hendrix books.
I’m not a native English speaker, but I prefer reading in English. Therefore it can’t be super intricate language. I like a satirical or ironic tone, but that’s not a must. I do not like high fantasy and can never get into something with a lot of world building.
Movies I like are for example the Talented Mr Ripley, Little Miss Sunshine, Donnie Darko, Glads Onion, Scream, Cmbyn, Don’t Look Up etc.
If someone reads this and thinks «oh I know something you would love» I would love a rec. I’m quite desperate to find anything. I miss reading and I am so tired of being recommended the same fantasy books over and over again
Edit: forgot to mention that when I was younger I loved Murakami books, especially 1Q84. I also loved Battle Royale and Room. (And twilight as all pre-teens do)
