Hi! I'm kind of a manager in a very tough field that doesn't pay much. Our new hires are typically described by some or all of these: young, part of the lgbtq+ community, women, or completely new to the field. It's highly skilled labor that isn't seen as such, so of course when starting the job there's typically a time when new hires realize they've gotten themselves into something harder than they thought. This can really make or break people. Its super worthwhile work if you can get through this part. I don't have the best managerial skills but I'm learning them right along with new hires, which can be good and bad. I support the business owners and train and take ownership over how a lot of things get done but I'm not labelled as a manager/head/supervisor, but still seen as a leader. I've been working in this field for years, so my experience makes me look like a manager too.
I'm looking for a book that can help me support people through the trials of starting in a new field, dealing with insecurities and learning curves, and come out feeling powerful.
Biggest hopes for book(s):
– supporting people building their own confidence
– helping my unofficial managerial skills
