After watching The Residence, Knives Out, and other murder-mysteries with awful people, I'm looking for any books (murder mysteries or otherwise) where the protagonists figure out whodunnit, but end up framing someone else because of that villain's other crimes.

For example, if there was a murder at a fancy retreat that the protagonist discovers was committed by one of the staff, but also present is a powerful business who brags about how he abuses his employees, and so the protagonist frames him for the murder instead.

I realize this is probably quite uncommon, but it's something I would love to read!

    1. The Thursday Murder Club does this a few times – use one crime to frame another criminal. They’re not exactly central to the plot, but it’s fun.
