Any genre, any kind of book. What I want to see a character in a tough situation that is shown some compassion and/or given help, and it’s a relatively significant part of the plot. The exact circumstances don’t matter too much, anything from caring for a wounded vet to adopting a kid goes. I’d like that plotline to end on a happy note, please, so no tragedies where everything good the character gets is taken away again. I’m very partial to military fiction and not particularly into romance/fantasy, but I’m willing to give anything a go, I suppose.
