I've never been much of a book reader, but I want to try to get into it. Problem is, I have no idea where to start. I'm wondering how you all choose your next book. Do you stick to certain authors or genres? Do you have a list somewhere you're making your way through? I guess I'm looking for suggestions that might ease me into it and, hopefully, I'll become an avid reader at some point.

Start with your interests. What kind of movies/shows/games are you interested in? Pick up a well rated and relatively short book in a genre that interests you that also has a synopsis that sounds up your alley.
What shows, movies or video games do you like? We need to know what you like to suggest something you will probably be interested in.
i would first pick a genre you may be interested in. i recently started reading as well and spent a lot of days in barnes and noble before discovering i like fantasy
A lot of people have good luck starting with good young adult books. They’re short, they often have complex topics, but simple stories, and they are often faster “paced.”
How I started a reading habit was seeking out books that were made into movies or TV that I liked. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Running Man, Jurassic Park, Silence of the Lambs and years later now I read what I read: Willeford, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Matheson, Richard Stark and the like.
