I am a teacher in an early elementary classroom. A few kids in my class have, as a typical for their age, very black-and-white thinking about “good guys” and “ bad guys.” For example, if I tell them, they may not play games on the playground in which they pretend to shoot each other, they reassure me that it’s fine because they were only shooting “bad guys.”
I don’t really think that humans come in a dichotomous variety of good and bad, but the point is not really that I want to change their minds – – I just want to use some good books to get us all talking and thinking about an interesting topic!
Suggestions for early chapter books or really well written picture books that could help us think about “ bad guys” who may have good qualities, or characters who move between moral categories, or similar topics?
