Hey all, hopefully this is a okay place to ask this. and hopefully my post fits within the rules?
(i worry it might break rule 3? but i don’t think so?)
I’m building out my home library, and one thing i really want to load up on (silly as it may seem) are books on the fundamentals of our technology and rebuilding it from scratch after a disaster. a sort of “prepper” library focused on rebuilding.
hopefully a good mix of overview books, but also some really in-depth ones. Including basic mechanical systems engineering, construction, husbandry, etc.
Obviously for subjects i actually know i can hunt down good resources, but the idea is a broad knowledge base.
I’ve already looked at “the book” which is cool in concept but sounds like it’s little more than a novelty. “How to invent everything” and more practically “engineering in emergencies” are both on my list already. As well as a full encyclopedia set.
If anyone knows of a good source for a list of such titles, or has any personal recommendations i’d be really appreciative.
Is it likely society will collapse and need to be rebuilt? eh.
Is there any likelihood this library would be of any practical help in that? eh, unlikely.
Would it be a fun thing to own, and a great way to broaden my and my family’s knowledge base? yeah.
Thanks in advance for any help and pointers.
P.S. if you can think of / recommend any other subreddits i should post this to, i’d be grateful!
