Hello! I’m searching for nonfiction works about/from the perspective of farmers, long haul truckers, oil rig workers, general blue collar workers, and their industries. I know it seems super specific, but I was suddenly struck by the fact that I’ve had very little nonfiction reading to do with these worlds, experiences, plights, and industry histories and have definitely wondered about them many times.
I love reading about industry beginnings, histories, horrors, conflicts, innovations, etc. just as much as I love reading individual experiences so I’m not hard to please.
Any recommendations are truly appreciated! 🙌

Maybe *Seaworthy: A Swordboat Captain Returns to the Sea* by Linda Greenlaw? An insight into the fishing industry. It’s been a while since I read this one, but I remember enjoying it. Evidently it’s a sequel, but I haven’t read the first one.
I highly recommend *Ice: From Mixed Drinks to Skating Rinks—A Cool History of a Hot Commodity* by Amy Brady. Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for, but it was a very interesting look into the rise of popularity in the US and the effects it had on a number of industries.
