I have a hard time getting into books, therefore i don’t read often. When i do find a good book i can’t stop reading. One of the funniest and most engaging books i’ve ever read is Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy. It threw you into the story immediately, was extremely funny and kept me engaged throughout the story. I have been going through a bunch of bad books lately that i put away after a couple of pages. Now i’m desperately looking for a book of the same calibre as Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy. I love sci-fi, horror, slice of life, fantasy, thriller ect. I don’t like romance!

Look into the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Start with Guards, Guards.
Someone else said Terry Pratchett, so I will mention that I just finished India Hedo’s _The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels_ (first of a trilogy, reading the second now) which has similar turns of phrase and intensity of action as Adams’s work.
There is an entire series of Hitchhiker books you can work your way through.
{{Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore}}
This is coming from someone who loves HHGTTG and is ~70% of the way through Discworld – which is another great recommendation and what I rebounded to after Douglas Adams.
Going Bovine by Libba Bray.
Will save the galaxy for food and Will destroy the galaxy for cash by Yahtzee Croshaw. An unemployed star pilot tries to get by in a universe where transporters are a thing.
*The Murderbot Diaries* is the answer. It has gloriously sarcastic humor, lots of heart, good action, and one of my all-time favorite narrators. Plus there’s a whole series.
“Alexander Outland: Space Pirate” by G J Koch.
Piers Anthony’s A Spell For Chameleon and the following Xanth series
Good Omens is hilarious
