A CRAZY TWIST you WON'T see coming is that I keep reading the latest thriller and mystery novels and being disappointed. No one is to blame but me.
So I thought this would be fun. What are some of your favourite reads of the last few years? Can you convince the rest of us to read it by shamelessly reducing it to its wildest, most shocking, disgusting, or unexpected parts?

I finished Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall recently. It’s similar to Where the Crawdads Sing in that it flips back and forth between an ongoing murder trial and the events that led up to it. The main character is a messy and very much flawed woman who’s battling to stay afloat due to grief. It *really* gets you thinking and leaves you conflicted on how you feel about each character. I’m great at calling twists, and for the most part I did, but there is one twist I didn’t see coming 🤯. It wasn’t just for show either- It completely changed my mindset yet again after it was revealed.

Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker. 2 sisters go missing the same night and one returns 3 years later. Some confusing interviews happen with the returned sister and things aren’t adding up. Add in some shady parents to the 2 girls, some insane things that the returned girl said happened and you’re trying to sort out what is truth and what is a lie because something is clearly amiss. Recommended it to a friend and we both did the audiobook. Finished within 2.5 days for each of us. Nicely paced mystery.
