I have two different answers depending on what you mean by last year!
**Released last year:** *The Eyes are the Best Part* by Monika Kim
**Read last year but released earlier**: *Shark Heart* by Emily Habeck
Honestly I go back and forth on which I like more, they are ***so*** intensely different lol but both so good and I think about them constantly.

I read a lot of books I loved last year but the best was *Gideon the Ninth* by Tamsyn Muir. Its sequels were also incredible.

The War God’s Favorite by Jenny Fox. Didn’t think I’d love smut as much as I did with this book but now I’m hooked and it’s a fantasy romance book so it works!!

I have a top tier of 2024, which came out to be 5 books. Nonfiction: I Don’t by Clementine Ford, The Resilience Myth by Soraya Chemaly, and The Death of the Artist by William Deresiewicz. Fiction: Possessing the Secret of Joy by Alice Walker (this was a reread. still as impressive the second time around.), and A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara.
