I turn 34 next week and will most definitely be buying myself some new books to celebrate. I enjoy pretty much every genre, but have been gravitating towards fantasy and cozy mysteries lately (to distract from the general glum of gestures around).
What are some books you’ve really enjoyed recently or find yourself picking up time and time again?

The Master and Margarita. That has a bit of everything in it. Happy Birthday for next week!
I’m in the middle of The Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft. It’s a lighthearted fantasy mystery starring a married couple who work as a magical detective duo. I’ll call it lighthearted instead of cozy, as there are some action scenes and violent moments.
I just finished the Rook and the Rose series by M.A. Carrick and honestly want to read it again. She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan is another of my favorite reads so far this year.
Happy early birthday! Since you’re vibing with fantasy and cozy mysteries lately, here are a couple that blend escapism with that comforting, immersive feel:

If you haven’t read this yet, *run don’t walk*. It’s a low-stakes fantasy about an orc warrior who retires to open a coffee shop. No big battles, just warm feelings, found family, and lots of cinnamon rolls. Like a hug in book form.
