Looking for books where non-humans (anthropomorphic animals, robots, aliens) have to come to terms with what it means to be human, how much they fit in with human society, and how humans react to them. Preferably where they're the protagonist, any genre welcome.
Books I've enjoyed with this theme include:
"War With No Name" series by Robert Repino
"Dog Country" by Malcolm F. Cross
"Machines Like Me" by Ian McEwan
"Dogs of War" by Ian Tchaikovsky
"Humans, Bow Down" by James Patterson
