Hey all. I'm a 10th grade English teacher who just finished using Fahrenheit 451 to teach a variety of skills. I love the book. The writing is a fever dream of wisdom and figurative language. I want to read something similar, even if it is not dystopia or speculative fiction. That said, I want an excellent story. Something to enrapture me.
I want something to make me think. Something to make me say, "Wow."
For reference, I have loved these books:
1984 by Orwell
The Crossing by McCarthy
Cloud Atlas by Mitchell
Giovanni's Room by Baldwin
Slaughterhouse Five by Vonnegut
Ishmael by Quinn
In Ascension by Macinnes
East of Eden by Steinbeck
Siddhartha by Hesse
I've also read all the usual suspects for dystopia and the like, including Atwood, Butler, Huxley, etc.
Thank you!
