As the title says I just want something where the fmc is taken and must survive on her own in some way shape or form. Some books I read that I like are:

    Stolen
    Gray After Dark
    Near the Bone

I do not want to read things like the butterfly garden. (Already know what happens). Same with Behind closed doors.

Here are a few books that fit your request where the female main character is hunted, taken, or kidnapped and must survive:

      * ***Room*** by Emma Donoghue (2010): Told from the perspective of a five-year-old boy living in captivity with his mother, this is a powerful story of survival and resilience after the fmc has been taken and held for years.
      * ***Bird Box*** by Josh Malerman (2014): In a post-apocalyptic world where seeing mysterious entities drives people to suicide, a woman must guide herself and a group of children to safety while blindfolded. This definitely has a strong “hunted” and survival element.
      * ***No Exit*** by Taylor Adams (2017): A woman stranded during a blizzard at a remote rest stop discovers a kidnapped child in a van. She then has to outsmart the kidnappers to try and save the child, putting herself in a dangerous survival situation.

Naya Nuki by Kenneth Thomasma- it was written for younger kids but is still entertaining, and fsscinating because it’s based on a true story!

“That’s Not My Name” by Megan Lally

Alternating first person POV’s. Great audiobook.

    4. This was the theme in one of the first novels we know of, Longus’s *Daphnis and Chloe*. It set the pattern for romance novels for the next 1600 years.

    5. Don’t Look Back by Gregg Hurwitz. A woman being pursued through the south American jungle. Very tense.

    6. The Quiet Tenant by Clemence Michallon. I enjoyed this read, but was a little annoyed at the ending, I wanted more from it there. Serial killer takes girls, but has kept one.

Appetite for Innocence by Lucinda Berry. Same situation, I wanted more confrontation at the end. This was extra dark because it involves teenage girls, specifically looks for virgins.

Perfect Days by Ralphael Montes- I had to DNF this around 75% of the way through because I couldn’t take the body horror. But a psychopath kidnaps a girl he thinks he’s in love with. It’s from his POV though.

I think I enjoyed the Quiet Tenant the most. The rest of the books I’ve read that center around this are more in the dark romance category. Not sure that’s what you’re looking for.
